The Scenic Route

Iceland’s landscape is a watercolor canvas.

A volcanic island dotted with majestic glaciers and bathed in ethereal geothermal steam.

Under the cotton-candy sunrise, the scenery shifts from moss-covered lava rocks to muddy trenched farmland.

Outcrops of short hardy trees break up the view.

Waterfalls cascade from rugged plateaus toward tiny villages nestled below.

Mountainous sheets of ice are hidden under moon-like rock, but the caves reveal their beauty with bubbles frozen between glassy formations.

Hungry waves smooth the black coastline dotted with shimmering ice, as the wind pelts coarse sand in every direction.

White-capped glaciers illuminate the darkening horizon.

The sky comes alive with an arch of translucent emerald that stretches and fades. The band of light brightens and dances with dazzling stars and mingles with wisps of silver across a moonlit expanse.

Even when the canvas is drenched with driving rain or whitewashed in snow, its beauty is only amplified.
