While creating this website, I wasn't able to transfer over my previous travel blog. This was the space I set up so my parents could follow my solo journey around the world (and know I was still alive). This blog documented a lifetime's worth of adventures. Adventures I'm reminded of regularly, especially when past blog posts show up in Facebook memories.
But now that blog is no more. I'm not sure why I didn't print out the posts or simply copy/paste the content into this new blog. For years, I agonized over this loss, even more when clicking on the FB memory that only lead to a blank page. However, I must have reached the next stage of blog grief since I've discovered a new purpose: I get to rediscover these adventures all over again.
Thankfully, I've kept a detailed journal and scrapbook of each and every trip I've taken—even before and after my World Wonders Tour. I'll be recapping these trips in a new blog series called Postcards to my Past Self. Not only will I get to relive these adventures, but I'll get to tell some new stories. The inspirations behind the trips. The tidbits I may not have wanted to share at the time. The glory of taking photos with an actual camera instead of a phone.
My past self may have had the drive and bravery to embark on these journeys, but my current self now sees how those experiences have shaped me and my views. At this stage in my life, I may not have made all the same choices I did back then. While I don't regret any of it, I'm grateful for my past self, and I hope these postcards inspire others to travel, explore, and expand their view while they still have the chance.
